In the 1930s, a young European goldsmith – a visionary artist – opened a small workshop with the goal of creating jewelry pieces that combined beauty, craftsmanship, and integrity. During his travels in search of rare gemstones, he discovered a little-known material: Moissanite. Instantly fascinated by its extraordinary sparkle and intense fire, he decided to delve deep into it and master its processing.
The journey was not easy: Moissanite is harder and more difficult to work with than other gemstones, requiring years of experimentation, filing, and perfecting. With patience and an innovative spirit, he developed unique cutting and setting techniques that optimally showcased the stone's brilliance.
He recognized not only its aesthetic value but also its ethical one: a gemstone that offers beauty without burdening the planet.
During this time, he also gave the workshop a name: ALYRAH. He chose it in honor of a great love of his youth, who had lost her life working in a gemstone mine. Thus, the name ALYRAH became not just a brand, but a symbol of remembrance, love, and the commitment to create beauty without sacrificing human lives or ethics.
Unfortunately, with the outbreak of World War II, the company fell out of favor. The workshop had to close, and the dream seemed lost. Only the story of the visionary goldsmith and his passion for beauty and ethics remained.
Two years ago, I was deeply inspired by his story. I decided to revive ALYRAH JEWELLERY and bring new radiance to a legacy. I chose the combination of Moissanite and Sterling Silver 925 to create jewelry pieces that respect the planet, honor the past, and bring beauty into the present.
